The first sight I had this morning was of my husband carrying in cup of coffee in my favorite mug. What a great way to start off my day! It’s not very often that I get to see my husband in the morning, well, I mean I see him every morning, but I am never fully coherent, so I think that it doesn’t really count. So, to have my husband thoughtfully (and so sweetly!) make me a cup of coffee and bring it to me, and sit with me on the couch while I drink it, and simply just talk and be, well I couldn’t imagine a better way to wake up! And that was the start to a wonderful day! It’s amazing how such simple things can take your day and make it something so special.
To make my day even better, taking a break from the morning ritual of staring at the computer, or laundry, or whatever daunting task I seem to find, I ventured out to Old Navy. I set out to buy those boots they have been advertising on t.v., only to be disappointed to discover that they were indoor boots, ruining my excuse to Brad that I needed to buy new shoes since mine were worn out. I quickly moved onto the fleece section, because if I could, I would live in a fleece everyday! Well, only in winter…I found one on sale for $10, so I quickly grabbed my size and checked out, before I was tempted by anything else! After that, I forged on despite the holiday shopping craze to T.J. Maxx, discovering a wonderful pair of socks that I just had to buy. Yes, socks. When I wear colorful socks, or socks with fun patterns, well it just makes me feel good! As I am typing that, I think it sounds really grandma-ish, but maybe it is just a sign that I am getting old, and fashion is losing its grip on me!
Coffee with the company of my husband, fleece and socks, these are a few of my favorite things!
And just to make this post a little more interesting, here is a photo from Santa’s visit at B. Antonio’s last Monday. Taken by my very talented husband, Brad.

These past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of settling in, being sick, work, work and more work! And, a complete lack of blogging, which is entirely my fault! I have so much blogging to catch up, from weddings from this past summer, to more current holiday events like the Living Christmas Tree at the Scottish Rite, or Santa pictures at B. Antonio’s!
We are settled into a new, temporary home, at Brad’s parents house. We have taken over my father-in-law’s computer room, and made it into a bedroom, and are still sorting out where this and that goes. It really is a joy to have such wonderful in-laws, we are excited to live with them over the holidays. It’s a bit tight, but we are so thankful for their generosity of sharing their home! All this leading to an obvious question…why are we living with Brad’s parents? Well, we own a condo in Denver that refuses to sell or rent out, so with hope of renting it out soon, we will be residing in the wonderful town of Grabill until it does!
For those of you who don’t know the small town of Grabill, it is quite a wonderful little town. Being raised in a large city, there are things about a small town that I just love. Grabill sits about 20 minutes outside of Fort Wayne and many of its residents are Amish. I love driving into Grabill, and seeing the horses and buggies trot along, there is just something so calming and tranquil about it. I also love that the post office is right across the street, and last week when I was sick, I just had to walk a block to the doctor’s office. And the fact that Grabill has a General Store still open and operating, is another reason that it is such a charming place.
I am sure that fellow Indiana residents are reading this, and thinking I am crazy for admiring such normal, daily things. But all you city folk out there, I am sure you understand why I find all of this so charming and wonderful. It’s a step out of the daily, crazy traffic and materialistic consumed world that I grew up in! It is for sure a welcomed breath of fresh air!

Brad and I captured a few pictures of the spectacular sunset after a family shoot, on our firends land. Moving here from Colorado, I often am asked, “Do you miss the mountains? Indiana is so flat and boring.” And while the mountains are nice to have (mostly to tell which way is west!) Indiana holds some beautiful things as well! And here is proof!
